New to market with excellent provenance - slices of history.

A pair of Irish smoker's chairs or carvers from Esker Monastery, Athenry, Co. Galway.

Great vernacular look, nice colour and patina.

Nicely shaped seats, both chairs strong and heavy with no wobbles.

Some signs of re-gluing of legs in the past, and possible adaption/adjustment of the top back rail, but well done.

One is slightly taller at the back and the other has slightly wider seat, both very comfortable.

Early to mid 20th century I'm guessing.
