An Edwardian bedroom, bathroom or side chair with cane/rattan seat, with nice inlay and good colour and patina from Brudenell House in Bucks (see below for provenance).
Solid, no movement, good condition, just expected wear and tear.
(Provenance:
Brudenell House is a large, beautiful Grade II listed country house and was originally built in the sixteenth century and then added to in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
Until 1962 it was the church rectory in Quainton. It was then bought by my oldest friend Julian's grandmother (Helena Wright, pioneer of birth control and family planning) and then passed down to her son, Beric, in 1982, when I first met Julian in our early teens.
I lived down the road in a very busy house, so I spent many hours and days escaping to Brudenell House!
After Beric passed away in 2008, the family finally sold Brudenell House in 2011 in order to downsize to a more manageable house.
This chair has been in dry storage since then.)
